A World We Dare to Imagine

A World We Dare To Imagine

Name and Mission of Organization

Who are we?

The Green Modern Movement Society

Our mission

Our organization will protect human health and the environment. Our protection of our planet will allow for diverse ecosystems to continue being sustainable and economically productive. Our goal is to coordinate with the Environmental Protection Agency by raising funds for mutual causes — the preservation of Mother Nature.

Why Are We Passionate?

We are all humans, and it is time to give back to our creator, Mother Nature herself. Since inception, we as humans have taken so much for granted from our environment, and it is time to give back! We have been given countless blessings from nature, such as shelter, warmth, food, etc. We as humans have the responsibility to not only try to preserve green resources that were given to us, but we must also pass down these blessings to our children. In other words, we are passionate about fighting against deforestation, fracking, and will do everything in our best efforts to preserve the biodiversity of our planet.

What is Unique About Us? And Why Should Anima Mundi Development Support us?

Through donations and government aid, our organization will start a social media platform in order to create a national green day. Just like other holidays, the stock market will close and we as a society will pay our respects and appreciate the beautiful planet that was left for our enjoyment. On this day we will be trending #Green on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Lots of restaurants and partners will be joining our movement by giving discounted “green” items in support. In partnership with Chipotle, anybody who posts a picture with their green bowl with the #Green will get 50% of their purchase. Our goal is that we can get thousands of stores to participate in this movement nationwide and make #Green the number one trending word on social media for the day.

Like most holidays, families will unite together and their precious time with one another. Activities such as planting trees, visiting national parks, and camping in the woods will all take place on this jolly green day. Anima Mundi Development should join the list of our current donators to help make this program possible. Their tax-refundable dollars will be used in the best way possible; giving back to preserve a planet that has given us humans so much.

A World We Dare To Imagine: Incremental Contribution

In a world that we dare to imagine, the term “Together” really brings upon difficulties. This is because some decide to treat our shared earth with more respect than others, and it is often troublesome to force other peoples or nations to set a standard.

But we must remember that we are all in this “together” and we all have the same common goal: to preserve our shared earth. I believe that each individual, as a global citizen, must make some sort of contribution in their lifetimes to help better human values and preserve mother nature. I, for example, will want to get into politics in order to fight for animals’ rights and preserve our planet from deforestation and fossil fuels. Other contributions do not have to be as drastic, however I do believe that donating a small percentage of one’s salary to a beneficial human cause will not be too much to ask for.

In essence, I believe that every global citizen must make some sort of contribution to better our planet. With this ideology in mind, we will be able to incorporate common human values in our mission to inch closer to the restoration of the planet that has given so much to its inhabitants already.

Extra Credit Number 2

The museum exhibit this time was pretty cool as well. I thought that the highlight for me were the random people giving out free wine in the basement of the first gallery on the right. The had selections of white and red wine! After having lots of wine, the exhibit was fun and there was lots of art to appreciate. Here are some photos!

Controversial Pictures

Should the Media be Allowed to Portray Vulgar Photos in the News?

One of the most critical values that many westernized nations hold true is the freedom of speech. Granted this freedom, modernized countries are allowed to converse as they wish as long as they do not endanger a group or individual. Although many dislike the Ku Klux Klan and its history, the government does not and should not stop a group from expressing themselves as long as it is law-abiding. The apples do not fall from the tree with respect to the freedom of photography.
Individuals from westernized countries have been increasingly sheltered from public information. Whether it is barring individuals to present their views on college campuses, or rioting when a presidential nominee is speaking, something must to be done to reestablish the open-mindedness of individuals today. With respect to newsworthy photos, images that are of relevance to the general public should be displayed, regardless of the vulgarity. Whether it is a dead body or children with guns, difficult images are the ones that provide the proper emotions of what the victims are actually going through. In order to fully understand the news and the arduous circumstances of the victims, images help ameliorate this task. The world must see the important events that are occurring in various countries, and if one finds a photo disturbing, he or she can either cover it or refuse to read the article. Regardless, it is the duty of the journalist to display photos that he or she thinks is relevant; and sometimes the photos may not be too pretty. However, it is the recent close-mindedness and increased sense of sensitivity by western individuals and societies that is trying to conceal difficult situations for people, rather than having people comprehend the situations themselves and make their own educated views on the topic.

In essence, it is of utmost importance that photos that display and elicit the emotions of readers need to be shown. It is the duty of a journalist to display not only the appropriate written factual information, but to also illustrate with photos what is really going on in the situation. Perhaps the journalist should write “Disturbing images below” to warn sensitive readers? Perhaps other reforms should take place in order to shield younger readers from viewing difficult images? Regardless of these necessary alterations, journalists must inform readers with written and photographic content of newsworthy information; and that goes without sensitizing the news.

Jacob Needleman -- Professor of philosophy and author of Money and the Meaning of Life

There truly is a deep connection between "Money and the Meaning of Life." Over the course of the interview with Jacob Needeleman, I learned a few qualities of how to deal with money that will better guide me throughout my career. The main theme I took away was that if you don't know your attitude towards making money, you simply do not know yourself. Money has the great power of bringing people together as well as splitting them apart, so one must better know how to deal with the surplus or lack of monetary goods. The interviewee also touched upon the subject of how money cannot change the internal makeup of a person. For example, if you are are a person who is always stressed and worried, you will also be that way when you make a lot of money. The cash won't change the way you act, but you may stress over different transportation issues once you have money — such as planes instead of cars. Another concept that I learned was that having a lot of money does not make one knowledgable, or rather smart, in other topics. Despite the fact that one can be well educated in how to run a simple business, he may not be intelligent with other respects of life. Lastly, the interviewee touches upon the fact that having money does not in fact make you successful. Rather, success should be defined as having idiosyncrasies that are benevolent for our society. Being a respected individual, one that addresses his or her tasks with prudence and through the kindness of their heart, is essential for the character development of that person. Money cannot replace the kind actions that are needed to make a person truly a success.

Genius Part 2 - Chapter 7

Chapter 7 – Culture for the Price of Admission

The author begins by explaining what one typically receives in return for an exchange. For example, money for a car is a clear exchange of economic currency for a good. However, when it comes to cultural norms such as orchestras, one cannot guarantee that the price that they pay for a ticket will guarantee them the satisfaction of good music. Rather, this is a risky bet when looking at it from an economic perspective. The author then shifts his tone by explaining that not everything can be valuated through the lens of economics, but some cultural aspects need bypass economical logic. For example, much money is gifted to orchestras so their music can be played and enjoyed; if this did not happen, many would not pay the price of admission and that would lead the extinction of an important aspect of American culture. In sum, the author concludes that in order to preserve culture, we must pay more than we should economically speaking, and hence pay the “Price of Admission.”

When Brandon and I discussed the issue at hand, we thought of the issue in a different light. Just like all of the businesses that have shifted from tastier foods to healthier foods to adapt to millennials, maybe the music industry is no different. As young culture is adapting, so should its surroundings. We believe that if it is no longer economically viable to have orchestras, maybe they should fane from existence. Gift money is a temporary solution that will soon fade. This is not a solution that can keep orchestras in existence forever, but rather a short-term solution to a deeply rooted issue. We as a society have a responsibility to shift our norms to appeal to the next generation, whether we like it or not.

Genius of Money: Chapter 2

The author in the first paragraph is stating the claim that Myths can be reinterpreted to have new meanings. Furthermore, when juxtaposing the literal and figurative components of myths, it is evident that they can transform into a new telling. The next paragraph talks about excavations of ancient Greece and Rome and all myths that were literally brought from the underground. One such myth was about a shower of gold explained in the next paragraph. The tale begins with Acrisius and Princess Danae of Argos. Acrisius wants to bear a son but rather finds out that he will be killed by his grandson, so he decides to lock Danae and her servant up to prevent this from happening.

However, Danae is impregnated by Zeus, as depicted by the painter Titian in a golden shower.  The rest of the story is told, where the son, Perseus, eventually survives with the help of gods before slaying the gorgon Medusa.  The author explains the use of coins showering both Danae and the servant in this artwork, showing how the thought of gold can hold great spiritual implications as well as darker suggestions of wealth and greed.  He believes Titian painted his piece to illustrate the two sides, both of which manifested in every human.  This author believes art has the power to deftly portray a message while also amazing the viewer.
